The prayer wheel is a Tibetan Buddhist instrument to increase the productivity of prayer. This turning pendant is inscribed with the prayer, "om mani padme hum," which means "a jewel in a lotus." It is the prayer for the enlightenment of all sentient beings. Inside the pendant is a paper scroll with the same prayer written over and over. The pendant can be opened, but we usually leave it undisturbed.
